PHI SIGMA KAPPA
Phi Deuteron Chapter at University of Kentucky

DanceBlue
The Phi Deuteron chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa has taken a large part in the biggest student run philanthropy in the Southeastern Conference, DanceBlue. DanceBlue is a yearlong fundraising effort culminating into a 24-hour dance marathon that raises money through the Golden Matrix Fund to benefit families and children of the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology / Oncology Clinic at the Chandler Hospital at the University of Kentucky.
Brothers have taken an active part for over 5 years and also risen close to $30,000 to benefit pediatric cancer in the process. Aside from the numerous amount of dancers annually, members of Phi Sigma Kappa have also been on the leadership committee to help develop, plan, and organize the structure to not only the marathon but also the entire yearlong effort of fundraising in the battle against pediatric cancer.
Special Olympics
Polar Plunge
The Campus Plunge is an event the brothers put on each year in November right outside the Phi Sigma Kappa House. The event features students and faculty jumping into freezing cold water for a good cause. This year the brothers collectively raised over $13k, and the proceeds benefit the Special Olympics of Kentucky. In return for the brothers help the Special Olympics allows the brothers to jump in the more famous, Lexington Polar Plunge, held each year in February and open to the public. The brothers also help them out on this event.
Recently, the national Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity reaffirmed its affiliation with the Special Olympics by recommitting them as our official national Philanthropy. The University of Kentucky Chapter has followed through on that commitment here in the Bluegrass. In addition to raising thousands of dollars for Lexington, Fayette and Kentucky Special Olympics, the Phi Deuteron Chapter also takes part in games, events, and practices to show our support for these amazing athletes and an amazing organization.
